We talked about our birthdays the other night. He was born on the 6th US time, which is the 7th NZ time. I was born on the 8th NZ time, which is the 7th US time. Cheesy, but we like to think we share the same birthdays ... 19 years apart. What a coinkidink.

March last year Larry was declined residency.

I'm safe to say it here because he doesn't read the blog at all .. his birthday will be a great one. I'm very much so ok with not expecting anything from him. His eye sight won't be good inside a store on his own nor would he be able to see the eftpos machine to pay for something. Understood.

I'm glad he has dialysis that day .. I need him to be gone for a couple of hours.

Operation B-Day is underway.

We are also having a birthday for Rome, who will be 4 on the 9th.
Wish Larell could come to it!

(It's on Saturday the 10th just incase you consider it F.K.A)

5/47 - Vietnamese Spring Rolls

Chào mừng!
Start with vermicilli. 15 minutes in cold water, then chop it up into inch sized strips.

I had no sausage meat and my car currently has no rego to go into town to get sausage meat (this will change tomorrow for concerned family), so I used steak mince.

Grate cabbage, dice onions & garlic, add the vermicilli and 2 tbsps of white wine.

Add mince.

Spoon 2 tbsps into a sausage like shape and roll.
(Fold in sides and roll)

I had enough spring roll wraps left over to improvise a dessert spring roll.
Cookies, cream cheese & choc chips.

6 minutes in the fryer or until golden.

Serve with sweet thai chili sauce or a peanut satay.

I called my sis-in-law Michelle to come down. I told her to tell my brother it was a female emergency, but he knew I was full of it.

They were better than great.

Thanks to Kim-ly from Danang, Vietnam for the top recipe!

Miss Leven.

Leven's first shoot.
Just like all the other kids in the family, she's a good looking addition to it.

Larell's Saturday in Hawkes Bay

My sister sent her 3 year old down for the weekend with her sister-in-law, who was coming down to attend a wedding.
This post is for my sister.

To Mum,
We started off at the beach. I wasn't allowed go down to the rock pools because I'm too small.

Then I was a KIA and thought I could do the big kids confidence course at the park.

I fell off these twice, but I didn't cry.

Then we had some lunch.

Bacon & Egg pie Nan made and yogurts.

We made Jeston push us round.

I got chicken on the seesaw because Rome is heavier than me and there was absolutely no balance in the seesaw force.

After lunch we went to Ocean Spa. Here I am under the fountain. Aunty told me if I went through, she'd buy me an ice-block.

She said you owe me a ice-block when I get home.
This was the extent of my swim - 2 minutes.

Me & Aunty sat under here and watched my cousins swim in the rain.
I walked all the way down the chair...

... and walked all the way back.

Then I ran all the way down ...

... and ran all the way back.

Just as I was about to go all the way down a 3rd time ...

... I changed my mind.

When we came home to Nans we had a hula night.

Romey Girl shook her booty.

I shook mine.

Then we had a fight over this tree and some make-up and Nan said hula night was over and sent Rome home.

And I fell asleep watching the NZ premier of Terra Nova (it was that great) at appoximately 10pm.

See you tomorrow.
Have my ice-block ready!
Love Larell.
PS: Aunty could not wash out the lip gloss from my hair.
PPS: It was not lip gloss, it was surfboard wax and I've been applying it to my lips all day.

The boys hat is in her bag.

Such a boring Friday.

Rome loves mussells.
Mussells may be on the menu for her birthday party in a few weeks.
She's posh.

We have golden queen peaches this year on our trees.

I'd preserve some, but the goats at the back are eating them and it's 78 cents for a can at the supermarket.

The giganto pumpkin in my parents garden.
It's for a competition and it's still growing.

Red cabbage from my parents garden.
Me thinks polish cabbage sounds good right now .. boring, but delicious.

Yesterday gave me a headache.
Yesterday, I hated computers .. so I rocked it old school for a while.

Rome's birthday cake design. She'll be 4 next month.
She asked if I could put pineapples or guacamole on the castle AND pink icing.

Yesterday ended at 8am this morning with a McDonalds breakfast.
Thanks to Tyler who braved it out with me and bought breakfast.
Thanks to Larry for keeping the bed warm 6 hours too early.
Thanks to the web design software for crashing all night resulting in three or four start overs.
... I did save, often.

Leven & mystery solved.

Leven made her debut lastnight.
I'm pretty sure she's named after Porthleven Beach in Cornwall (UK), which is where her mum is from. She's cute. Looks like her Dad .. except he's ugly. I think her middle name is Neihera .. which is Natalie in Maori.

Regarding this previous post.
The mystery has been solved. My cousin Mere revealed herself to be "the one" last week.

The preying mantis is never wrong.

Re: Larry

No news is good news.
He has been stable for a month.
Awaiting results from last weeks heart test.

A year ago he had cataract surgery. His sight still has not come back fully, but he has been Skyping recently with a few friends. I don't want to sound like a receptionist, but the best way to get him - if you want to chat with him - is to send a message to his Skype, which I receive, and I'll get back to you. He may be at dialysis or it may be Invader Zim hour on Nick Jnr. If you want to call our phone or have him call you, leave a message on Skype.

The I-just-need-something-sweet snack.

It's simple.
Melt the butter.
Add the marshmallows.
Add cornflakes.
Remove from heat.
Add M&Ms, smarties or pebbles.

The End.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!
Flowers die and you can't eat them (unless you want to), so .. the mountain came to Mohammed today.

Molding chocolate.

Dark Choc. Toffee Pops.

Melting chocolate.

The Rose.

The Rose Bouquet.

The Calla Lily in there.

Husbands deserve a valentine too.

It's amazing what you can do with modelling chocolate besides lick your fingers.

Summer part 2

Nessa envisioned this shoot with my nephew Ellis. They pulled it all together very well. Hubs was supposed to be in it, but got stage fright...
