Winters coming.

Today we made some turmeric, lemon and honey lozenges for winter. If people don't steal them from our cupboard when they visit, we should have enough to last us being sick a few times during winter.
Edge loves the kitchen. Measuring, pouring, mixing and I'm standing there like a hawk trying to balance a camera and make sure she doesn't spill anything onto the floor.

Recipe:
1 c sugar
1 c raw honey
4 Tbsp water
1-2 tsp turmeric
Zest from 1 lemon

Combine and mix sugar, honey & water.
Boil to 200°F.
Add turmeric and zest.
Boil to 300°F.
Follow instructions below.

Used the raw honey from Aunty Bubby.


Boil to hard crack stage - 300°F. Very similar to peanut brittle.



Add the zest of a lemon.

Let sit for 3 minutes, something that is not done when making peanut brittle.


Let it cool down for 10 minutes.

It smelled awesome.

Cut while the mix is still pliable then let it sit for an hour to set.


Taste test. I'm surprised she liked it. The turmeric in it is pretty potent.

I added crushed Splenda to avoid them sticking together.
Boom.


I'm not sure if Baby #6 for the family is here yet, but he was on his way all day yesterday.
