It takes a village ...

I was telling Mitchy today about an incident during primary at church where I scorned my nephew (as in my brothers son, her son), for not participating and disrupting the lesson. It wasn't anything harsh, just a 'sit up and shut up' telling off.

Another adult had watched the ten second episode and with much confidence told me that Mitchy wouldn't appreciate me telling her child off. She went on to tell me that she would, not her words, crap a brick if someone told her kids off for any reason. She said it was her job to discipline her kids and felt my sister in law, would feel the same way.

Could've stopped her in her tracks and told her to shut up and sit the hell down too, but I was in the Lords house.

My family practise collective punishment. Pretty sure it's common everywhere. My nieces and nephews are loved by everyone in our immediate family and they all get their progress correction from several adults, adults who matter to them and who are authority figures in their lives. If this weren't true, my nephew would not have sit up or shut up that day.

So please .. next time, be silent.
