Happy Cracker Night!

I had a notion today that when Larry died he went to heaven, straight to God and told him he needed to seriously do something about the restaurants in Hastings .. because ever since he's been gone, the choices of food places are getting better, especially the sushi. We had 2 sushi places a year ago, now we have 6 and it's not just Teriyaki Pumpkin (for real) sushi, it's the raw stuff. Still waiting for Albacore, but for now this will suffice.

Cracker night. We almost didn't make it.

Jumping through the fireworks.

I don't know why they pulled over onto the side of the road across from the house that has a houseful of babies. It was loud. I would have come out and told us to move along, but that's the problem with this place. Everyone's family so no one takes anyone seriously. Like my drunk cousins from up the road who think my tree by the mail box is a toilet.
What can you do?

Happy Cracker Night NZ.

Darrell was there.

... and then there was the trip to the emergency department at 6.30pm.
Primary Presentation practise at the chapel. I'd been telling her to sit down the entire time we were there, but since her ears aren't real she ran around like a monkey on banana crack right into the back of a chapel pew. The impact pushed her two front teeth backwards and she needs a dental consultation asap. We spent 2 hours in the ED and came home just as everyone was wrapping up Guy Fawkes night.

She looks like one of those things from The dark Crystal.
We'll be having Guy Fawkes tomorrow. Her Papa Greg cancelled tonight because she was in hospital.
All doped up on Pamol and fast asleep.

Forgot to say a big fat Happy Birthday, on the blog, to my sister for yesterday. She's 33 now ... 8 years older than me ;)

Super Moon, Te Mata and Ariel.

Last nights Super Moon. Te Mata Peak. Safe to say, Hubbalush loves her Ariel. She's my favorite big sister Mum. (Shame Tyler, Shai, Nessa and Rome) Goodnight Hawkes Bay. Earthquake: I felt it. I got my child up and ran outside onto my concrete porch where I thought it would be safest. The Seismologist on the news the next day said running outside is not a good idea in the event of an Earthquake. Now I know for next time. Hawkes Bay didn't feel the effects of it like Southland did .. and is continuing to do. Over 1000 aftershocks since it all began. Tyler is stuck on the South Island and finishing out their tour, much to my dismay. It's a disaster zone in parts down there and although she's on the skirts of the danger zones, you'd think it professional AND safe to cancel the tour and bring the troop home .. but no. Some stupid doesn't think so. Goodnight.

Kawe Mate.

Recently an Aunty of mine, who is staunch in her Maori culture, talked to me about the protocol of Kawe Mate. Kawe Mate is a custom during the maori process of death that involves taking the deceased memory back to where they were well known or considered home. It's a custom that is basically a gesture of love to family members who weren't able to attend the tangi. My family never practised it at all and I don't think it's necessary to start. I carry his memory in my heart, as does his Mom, that's all that matters. Happy Mothers Day!
