Waipatiki Beach

Born and bred in Hawkes Bay and I'd never ever heard of Waipatiki in all my years. I wish I knew about it before last week. I would have taken you there for an R&R. In the three hours we were there .. alot happened.

First I drove our car across the sand and got stuck. This is what happens when you listen to 2 know-it-all teenagers who direct you to where you should park. My brothers spent the first 30 minutes trying tow the car out. After breaking Jestons surf straps, it was done.

Cold Jeston.

Shai .. Shai, Shai, Shai. *shakes head*.
Shai learned what a rip was today. When she came walking back looking traumatized from a swim with mascara running down her face, it was obvious something was wrong. Then she told us how she and Tyler were swept away from Aunty Tash and near some rocks and how she had to be saved (Thanks Dad!). I asked her if she saw a light. I told her she was close to "seeing Uncle Larry" to which she responded, "That would have been cool". She didn't go back in past her hips after that episode.

Rome. How one can be so beautiful and so evil all in one body is beyond me.

Big Brother. Saved two of his kids lives today!

I took out my daddy-mac lens. I had to get back in to it eventually. Today was a great opportunity. Olly body boarded.

Jeston surfed in the 4 footers. It didn't get higher than that and the best ride looked like the white wash ride in.

Over all, it was a great day.

I wish I knew about the place before. You go through all the motions a NZ country side has to offer and it started at a sea of cornfields for 2km.

It's been 45 days.
Wish you were here.
