The Pinto beans soaked all day yesterday and cooked all night and all day today.
It was time to make the roux.
The roux consists of oil, onion, bacon and flour - in that order.
You'll know when the beans are ready to smash.
We don't completely smash them however.
Add the roux and mix.
It will become thick.
To make them refried beans, leave them to cool and sit and refry the next day.
